OFFICIAL TRANSLATIONS

Official certified translations intended for use in Greece

We provide official certified translations for

  • public and private documents*, whether presented by private individuals or public services
  • foreign public documents, as defined by the Hague Convention, provided that they bear the apostille of the Hague Convention "APOSTILLE", in case they come from an Authority of a country party to that Convention;
  • in any other case, if they either carry a visa from the Consular Authority of Greece in the country of origin of the document.

*The official translation of private documents takes place when they are validated or endorsed.

Official translations of documents into Greek are made by:

  1. Translators belonging to the Register of Certified Translators of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs\
  2. Graduates of the translation department of the Ionian University (based on the Presidential Decree 169 of 17.06.2002 (Government Gazette 156 / 2.7.02)\
  3. Lawyers
  4. Embassies/Consulates

Please note that it is at the discretion of each service to decide which official translations it accepts. It is therefore the client's responsibility to confirm with the recipient of the translation the type of translations accepted.

In order to obtain an official translation, the original document or a certified copy with the validity of an original, which shall be attached and stamped together with the translation, shall be presented.

Official translations intended for use in a foreign country

For official translations intended for use in a foreign country, it is the host country of the document that determines the type of translations accepted. It is therefore the client's responsibility to confirm with the respective recipient of the document the procedure required to provide an official translation.

Seal of The Hague – Apostille

The Stamp of the Hague Convention (Apostille) is the apostille which abolishes the obligation to certify foreign public documents.

The Hague Stamp (Apostille) is issued on original public documents or on exact copies of the issuing authority which have the force of the original ones.

It is noted that the Hague Seal (Apostille) certifies the authenticity of each public document and not the authenticity of its translation. Therefore, it is the client's responsibility to confirm whether a Hague stamp is required on his document and to arrange for it to be issued by the competent authorities before presenting the document for translation.

In the Decentralized Administration of Crete the apostille is granted by legally authorized employees in each regional unit.

Social Tutorial

The educational program "Social Tutorial" of the English Institute G. Avramopoulou is innovative. Our students who are currently holders of a Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) certificate of proficiency teach other students under the guidance of our school teachers.

The benefits for the participants are multiple. Students/trainers consolidate existing knowledge and develop communication skills. Students assimilate the English language in an unconventional way. The community benefits as more young people acquire invaluable skills, such as generosity.
